About Coto de Caza
Coto de Caza is an affluent gated community 20 miles south east of Irvine,CA. It has 4800 plus acres which 45% are open space(about 2200 acres). There are under 4000 homes. Buildout was completed on 2003.
The name Coto de Caza is Portuguese for “hunting preserve”. The location was used as hunting area/resort , target range and horseback riding center before it was developed. The equestrian facilities are still currently used.
The area topography of Coto consist of rolling hills and canyons. This creates spectacular views for homes nestled in them.
Thomas Riley Wilderness park took 475 acres from Coto. The park was opened in 1994. It has has five miles of multi-use and single track trails. It offers outdoor enjoyment for hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers.
The median price of homes in Coto is $948,700 as of January, 2004.
